Talia Shade | Talbott Tower

Consolidation

Talia Shade artistically showcases the blending of nature and industry.

When I think of the landscape of Dayton, I think about the industrial aspects of the city and the transportation within it.  I focused on the elements of how line and shape move throughout space.  Both pieces were inspired by what I consider to be “Naturally Dayton,” the structures in combination with nature.

My artistic pursuits started at Sinclair Community College where I was able to explore a variety of artistic processes.  I received  my associates degree in fine arts from Sinclair with a concentration in painting.  I furthered my studies in art and received a bachelor’s of fine arts from Wright State University with a concentration in painting, drawing, and printmaking.  I continued my education at Wright State University and received a masters in art education.  I have had the opportunity to teach art at Sinclair Community College, ITT Technical Institute, and the Dayton Art Institute.  I also teach students that are on the autism spectrum and use art therapy as a means to improve language and cognition.  I am always looking for new and innovative ways to create art and to inspire the students I teach.
