Exploring Parks & Rivers in “Dayton’s Hoods”

Photo by She & I Photography: Robin Dakin shows the beauty of the rivers on a unique canvas.

Being encouraged to draw, paint, and build in the small, but very big world around me, has grown in me since childhood.  I have been heavily influenced by spending time in my grandmother’s garden, feeling the sun on my skin, digging in the earth, and watching flowers grow.  I grew up all over the country and thus experienced great variety within the colors, smells, and landscapes from coast to coast.

My artwork continues to evolve as well as my interest in 3D objects, drawings, and painting.  I have always been interested in objects that can communicate an idea or response on very simple terms.  Everyday interaction, visual and tactile relationships can pass you by, going unnoticed. My artwork to this point is very direct with clean lines and using strong colors, having a childlike and playful feeling. Flat shapes fill the canvas and jump out at you.  I want the viewer to have a clear view of the intent of the painting.
